Friendly staff, great fair trade coffee and comfortable environment. Free wi-fi. Tips for the month were being given to local community organization. Even had sign up lists to gather food to give to local families in need during the holidays. This place gets it. They serve much more than a great cup of coffee! I will go back as often as I can.

Only excellence and awesome food! Its a place you need to try at least once...but you'll find yourself going back again and again! Sorry to read "stillranting's" approval, then dis-approval...... you must be bi-polar or somethin' ") This place is great!!
twentyfoursmom wrote about Tie Dye Grill
Needs to place a sign stating NO REFUNDS! The owner will take your money and your time and then SCREAM at you, "I'm not giving you, your money back" So BEWARE....it's happend more than once and with the BAD customer service she gives...even "Decent Food" is not enough to keep'em coming back!

Fantastic service, in town for Pacers game and ate at Bazbeaux's on Westfield Blvd. Highly recommend if you have not eaten there. We were seated quickly when we thought we would be waiting. Our waiter was pleasant and the food was great, can't wait to return.

At first I was a bit torn about the whole restaurant near the gas station thing, but when I got in there, I forgot all about the pumps behind me. Been there times and the food was delightful every visit. Service was average, but I think our waitress was new and trying to get her footing. I'm totally feelin that peach butter stuff they give you with the waffles. You almost don't even need syrup... almost. =)

Ive been to Maxine's twice now in just over a week both times have been wonderful. Everyone full of smiles and very friendly. The food is excellent. The waffles are huge with massive chicken wings. The chicken strips are huge and super delicious. Great place. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Rude service, overpriced goods. The main draw is snob appeal. If that's your thing, you'll love it. Otherwise, save your cash for a genuine experience.

Nope, not a great experience with LaCretia Cakes at all. And I hate to say that ... Rude service, jacked up cake design and average-tasting cake. Pick up the pace, LaCretia Cakes. Customer service is above quality goods is job one!

Been there at least 100 times. Food from sushi bar is excellent and best salad of any sushi bar. Wait for food is exceedingly long. Never comes out at same time for everyone and sometimes it never comes at all. Owner lady is loud and just nuts but can be both fun an annoying at same time. People are regularly leaving mad and making a bit of a scene. Poorly organized staff and not a real sushi chief. They have lost several good ones. Don't think anyone could work for the crazy lady. Shame. Great potential here for a quaint upscale sushi hot spot. Was great when first opened but will not be surprised to see its demise. Love that great salad though.

We had a verrrry special family event and chose this restaurant. They suggested the best table for our large group was in front of the fireplace and that was our expectation. That table was taken when we arrived and no explanation was given. We were shifted to a back area The food and service were up to the norm of the establishments we are familiar with. However, the occasion was supposed to be at another level. Manassas, VA

Hollyhock is a very good place to go as a large group. They offer TONS of very good food and great service for a slightly pricey amount. But worth it for the leftovers, and for keeping a completely unique jewel of a restaurant in our chain-drowned city.
IndyGrl wrote about Dyno Jax
My favorite place to get a quick hotdog. Plus, the only place (that I'm aware) to get an AUTHENTIC Chicago style dog. No ketchup, people! But, when trying to get a quick bite a couple of weeks ago, I see that Dyno Jax has been hit with the recession, and has closed. Definitely will be missed in my household!
nate9425 wrote about On Time Seafood Restaurant
Our trip for Thanksgiving dim sum was almost ruined when we realized that our favorite Shen Yang was no longer in business. We were able to get our fix, albeit a couple days late by finding the new restaurant On Time Seafood. Considering when we were there they had only been open for little more than a week, we found On Time to be more than acceptable in both service and food quality. The staff was friendly and competent, able to understand our requests for some of our favorites, including shrimp cheung fun (shrimp in a long noodle) and gai lan (stir fried Chinese broccoli), although the latter took a second person to get translated properly. The restaurant, having a fresh renovated décor, is much more presentable than Shen Yang was even after it had been upgraded from the previous incarnation known as Yummy. We arrived around noon to a place that was between a third and a half full, and by the time we left it was nearly two thirds full, a good sign. Although the neighborhood, near Lafayette Square and not far from Shen Yang, is still suffering from years of deterioration, the aging strip mall where On Time resides is in reasonably good shape. Next to On Time is the international grocery store Saraga, well worth a visit after you have filled your belly at On Time. When we first arrived we ordered several dumpling dishes and a couple of baked char siu bao (pork stuffed roll), all of which turned out to be cold. Not a good start, but that turned out to just be a bit of bad timing. All subsequent cart selections were hot and steamy. One other criticism is with the char siu bao which did not have a big enough pocket of meat. Other than those couple of faults, the balance of the dishes were quite tasty, and up to the standards of our previous better dim sum experiences. Our selections included chicken feet, pork ribs, curried cuttlefish, shrimp dumplings, shrimp in tofu wrap, sesame balls, fried taro balls, and many others. We finished up by sampling a dish from the seafood selection on the regular menu. It was called Salt and Pepper Crab. Made from one of the live Dungeness crabs seen in tanks near the back of the restaurant, the claws and legs were battered and deep fried in a wok, then some hot chili sesame oil was applied and the crab served over a layer of chopped fresh chilis along with the crab shell on top for decoration. Spicy and delicious. The bill arrived and it seemed to us that it was quite reasonable compared to what we had been used to paying at Shen Yang. Given that the staff is still coming up to speed, perhaps they had not kept track of all our dishes, but still, at less than $20 per person and that with a lot of leftovers, the place looks to be a real bargain. A very enjoyable experience, good value, good service and good food, On Time Seafood definitely gets high marks and we are grateful that we still have a source for good dim sum in Indy. We will be going back there again!

Yokohama in Greenwood has excellent sushi, the paper pot soup is superb as is the clam miso soup. It has been my favorite sushi restaurant since opening May 2008.

VictorOfBorge wrote about Cajuns Cafe & Catering
Saturday evening about 6:30 PM and there were fewer than half a dozen guests in the dining room compared to the packed lots and waiting lists at the chain joints. The smallish dining room is clean and appointed with tables decorated with tour guides, photos, and explanations of New Orleans lore. I was quickly provided with a menu and glass of Luzianne ice tea (the Southern favorite). I noticed no mention of alcohol, so I guess a Turbo Dog was out of the question. The menu includes appetizers like the New Orleans specialty of Barbecue Shrimp: shrimp sautéed with spices, butter and zesty Cajun barbecue sauce; A number of seafood bisques and soups; Seafood selections both fried and sautéed; a large selection of New Orleans Po' Boys and Muffaletta sandwiches, and finally, Jambalaya, Etouffee, Creole, and Red Beans & Rice dishes. I decided to try the Cajun Sampler at $13 which included Red Beans & Rice, Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffee, Shrimp Creole and Corn & Seafood Bisque in 5 small bowls presented on a large platter seasoned with Cajun spice around the rim - can you say, "BAM!?" The Bisque was creamy, not overly thick, with crisp and flavorful kernels of corn, fresh tasting seafood (in too small a quantity to tell precisely what it was) and good seasoning. This was easily the best tasting item on the platter. The Crawfish Etouffee featured small, but fresh tails of Crawfish, light and mildly spicy pieces of “The Trinity” (onion, green pepper & celery) with well-cooked, fluffy long grain rice. Next up was the Shrimp Creole that was a bit more "kicked up." The Shrimp were the smallish, 60+ size and were on the rubbery side – frequently from being held too long in a hot serving pot. The Jambalaya was mostly rice with no veggies but several chunks of real Andouille sausage the restaurant imports from The Big Easy. This is not smoked sausage as Hoosiers know it, and it does have a nice kick to it. Finally, the Red Beans & Rice featured smoky flavored kidney beans in a creamy broth with the rice. While this is a good try, I'm afraid the biggest problem was that the food tasted like it had been held for hours on end. The Crawfish was the freshest tasting, but the Shrimp was the consistency of rubber nuggets. The Jambalaya rice was dry and the Andouille had given its all, a long time before I tasted it. This was during what should be the peak of dinner service; so, if the food tasted tired and warmed-over now, I don’t hold out much hope for it at other times. Also, while rice is a key component of Cajun/Creole cuisine, I would like to have had more of the meat, veggies and sauce of these dishes to enjoy with rice being an accompaniment, not the major component.
