Naisa Pan-Asian Cafe: User Reviews

I went to Naisa for dinner the other night and couldn't have been happier. The food was good and tasted fresh, not too saturated in oils and fried. Our server and the owners were very friendly and it was an almost perfect dining experience. The only complaint I had was that the air conditioning must have been on full blast because the restaurant was freezing. As far as our meals were concerned, my dining partner raved about the seafood soup and I practically inhaled the veggie spring rolls.
What a great new culinary addition to Fountain Square!

Just got back from lunch. Much nicer than previous Chinese Restaurant that was in the same location.
While the menu is smaller, and prices are a bit more expensive than other Chinese places I've been too in the area, it's a fair trade-off.
Decor: Nice, sedate, Oriental Minimalist.
Service: attentive, but I was the only one in there at the time, late Sat. afternoon.
Overall, food was very tasty. Very nice plating on oriental style chinaware. (no pun intended)
Won Ton Soup: broth was okay, could have had a bit more flavor, but as good or better than most; dumplings were excellent and plentiful.
General Tso's Chicken: very good, nice heat (tell them if you don't like spicy), good sauce, not too sweet; watch out for the little whole chiles. They make the dish, but are killer if you chew one!
Fried Rice: better than average, not the pale yellow **** that many places in the area call Fried Rice.
Cinammon Sugar Puffs: To Die For! A little piece of Heaven. The Honey-Ginger dipping sauce makes them a special treat. As a single diner, I requested a half order (4 puffs.) While at first reluctant, the owner agreed to do it "this time." It was the perfect size for one, and I I was glad to pay a small premium for the smaller size, as is fair. My waiter told me that the owner is now considering making this option available regularly. Let's hope she does. I would certainly consider making the trip just for a little dessert occassionally.
The only negative, sort of, that I can mention is this: $2.95 for a pot of hot tea? Why is it any other Chinese Restaurant I've been to provides it at no charge. A buck, maybe; maybe even $2 if it were made frim an exceptional tea, but three dollors for some hot water and 10 or 15 cents worth of black tea. C'mon, it doesn't need to be gourmet; just a little oolong will do.
To sum it up, much nicer than local "Chinese" buffets. Not many sitdown places around, so Naisa fills a nice void. Hope they reconsider their tea policy.
Welcome to the neighborhood. May your stay be a long one!
