Sean McCurdy, 24, Jennifer Nikirk, 24, and Travis Owens, 28, all from Indy, partying at The Rathskeller. (Alysha Henderson for The Star)
Designed by Bernard Vonnegut, the grandfather of Indy's most famous son, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., the Athenaeum is one of our city's architectural treasures, and it houses one of our city's cultural treasures: the Rathskeller, a regal hall that offers the best selection of German bier this side of the Rhine and a selection of German specialties. The bier garten opens in warm weather and crowds flock to down super-sized draughts and bob to live music.
