Pick up salads, sandwiches, soups and more at Vine & Table

Vine & Table’s soups, hot and cold sandwiches, entrée salads and desserts offer an alternative to typical to-go fare and a creative way to fill any picnic basket. (The market even offers an order-ahead “picnic-on-the-go” option.)

Soups ($4 for a cup, $5.50 for a bowl) vary daily. Friday’s minestrone was a light yet flavorful take on the classic soup, loaded with vegetables and topped with grated parmesan-reggiano cheese. The roasted barley, brandy and caramelized vegetable soup, though tasty, was a bit too heavy for a hot day.

Be sure to check out the menu board, which lists each day’s soup offerings. After I spotted one of Saturday’s specialties, a wild mushroom bisque with truffle oil and fresh garlic, I returned just to try it — and wasn’t disappointed. (I’d also like to try Monday’s Tuscan tomato bisque and Tuesday’s vegetarian cinnamon chili.)
