Lisa Celeste Stroud devoted a chunk of her Wednesday performance at the Jazz Kitchen to an explanation of what her act is and what it isn’t. The only child of iconic vocalist-pianist-activist Nina Simone, Stroud pays homage to her mother with her stage name – the monomynous Simone – and the standards she sings.
