Judas Priest revives 'Steel'
When musicians dust off a long-ago album and play it from beginning to end, an underexposed song can become an instant classic. “Don’t...

AND, It's completely worth mentioning. THE AUDIENCE ROCKED! We are, after all, a major part of the overall experience. And we 'United' and became one, gearing up to be part of the total Priest Package as they played 'WAR PIGS' on the PA [right before JP donned the stage of the perfectly intimate sized and acoustically pleasing venue of the Murat Theatre] EVERYONE in the audience just started singing from ... "Generals gathered"... all the way to the end... like it was preplanned or choreographed or something... standing up and all singing along throuought the entire song!! All Right Now! Sabbath should reciprocate. And, yes, it's obvious to the "Wise" fans, the blatant resemblance between Crues "Looks that Kill' to 'Wise' but in this particular case, ask me if I care. It's good stuff all the way around in an hommage manner of singing.

I would've preferred the slower acoustic Diamonds and Rust from the '05 Rising In The East DVD... but I probably wouldv'e started gettin all emotional... what a damn fine show! So many of us saw the original British Steel tour (myself in Cleveland with the SCORPS Lovedrive) 30 years ago... yet amazingly, somehow, we've only aged 20 years.. you see kids... the good classic metal is like a fountain of youth. Those of you who dropped the ball... shame on you, you're loss. Victim of Cha...aye....aye.. anges! Excellant Show... they always seem to deliver the goods. I think Ians feet were nailed to the floor, didn't see him move much....... Glenn and KK ....dual masters ... musical teamwork at it's finest... Can't imagin WHY Halford would be reading a teleprompter... been at it for a while, seasoned professional.. he could do whatever the hell he wants cuz he truly is a Metal God... I'm glad it was 'an evening with' Priest!!

Didn't see Halford "reading lyrics from a video monitor," and unless the reviewer had some special view, I'd doubt that happened--I'm guessing they have performed those songs so many times they could do it in their sleep. I certainly found myself singing along after not having listened to songs like "Rapid Fire" or "Steeler" in years. Halford's voice isn't what it was, but after almost 40 years who could expect him to hit the impossible highs reminiscent of "Unleashed in the East"? An amazing show, and when you consider the original 4 are pushing 60 it's even more impressive. I was totally surprised when they played "Freewheel Burning" after Halford rode his Harley on stage--that has always been when they play "Hell Bent for Leather," a song they did not perform last night. They also played "The Ripper." Great sound, and a great show.

A few others were Diamonds and Rust, Rock Hard Ride Free, Nostradamus, You've Got Another Thing Coming. Great to see them at the Murat. Ian may have been a little winded (didn't notice it), but the entire band seemed to become more energized for the last half of the show. Someone complained about the length, but 1 1/2 hours seems pretty typical.
