Sarah Grain has been a songwriting presence in Indianapolis now for almost a decade. Beginning with her collaborations with hip-hop artists and African drummers in the band Undefeatable Beats, Sarah branched out on her own again in 2004, returning to her roots as a solo singer-songwriter. That doesn't mean that her singing and writing has lacked in collaboration, though. She is still frequently seen singing with other friends, including TJ Reynolds and the Freehand Orchestra, an old cohort from the Undefeatable Beats days. IndianapolisMusic.Net has this to say about Sarah's music: "Sarah Grain’s music may feature just her and her guitar, but it contains a drive and insistence that sounds a great deal bigger. She’s not afraid to transcend her genre, either ... Whether she’s performing her own folk songs or joining others in a variety of other projects, it’s her voice that stands out." She mixes influences from jazz, bossa nova, folk and country to a unique style that is undeniably rooted in songwriting and storytelling.
