This week sees the release of Grey Granite’s “Lust Poisons Pride” on iTunes and in local record stores. Grey has been steadily making an impact on Indy’s scene as a performer, tastemaker and blogger. “Lust Poisons Pride” is a great step forward — from the opening buzz of “Off Safety” to the undeniably sleazy bounce of “Lay You Down,” you know this album is different  from anything that’s been released from this city.

Grey has established his own lane. His music skips and jumps from genre to genre effortlessly. Nothing feels forced; I’d even say that Grey and J. Brookinz have fully found their sound with “LPP.”

The year-plus they spent working on this album is evident. Brookinz’ production is stellar. The sonic palette he chose gave Grey the space he needed to create an album that could change a lot more minds about what Indy’s music scene is capable of doing.

There’s also a streaming link available on Soundcloud for “Lust Poisons Pride.” Get that, man!

Rusty Redenbacher hosts "The Rock Block" at 4 p.m. weekdays on Indy's Music Channel.
