Talking with the 'Country Strong' stars

Gwyneth Paltrow, Leighton Meester, Tim McGraw and Garrett Hedlund get in tune

A music superstar struggles to overcome her inner demons in “Country Strong,” an intimate drama starring Oscar-winner Gwyneth Paltrow, country star Tim McGraw, Leighton Meester (“Gossip Girl”) and Garrett Hedlund (“TRON: Legacy”).

Written and directed by Shana Feste (“The Greatest”), the movie makes a seemingly counterintuitive demand that Paltrow, Meester and Hedlund do their own country singing, while McGraw never breaks out in song. All four stars and the director recently discussed how the movie and music came together, and the highlights follow.
