In 1997, Sheen was charged with misdemeanor battery against ex-girlfriend Ashland [pictured, right]. He received one year's suspended sentence, two years' probation and was fined $2,800. He also was forced to perform community service and attend eight counseling sessions.
Sheen violated the parole in 1998—his father Martin reported him after a cocaine overdose—and was forced into drug rehab.
