Rockets' red glare. NBC's Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular led the pack, as usual, with 8.1 million viewers Wednesday, down 7% from last year, while CBS' Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular (5.5 million) fell 18%. PBS, citing early figures, says A Capitol Fourth drew 6.3 million.

Talentgoes live.Howard Stern's debut on the first live episode of NBC's America's Got Talent drew 10.4 million viewers Monday, down from this season's average.

ViewersAngered. Week 2 of FX's Charlie Sheen comeback sitcom, Anger Management, plunged 38% from last week's premiere to 3.4 million viewers Thursday, still a good number for the cable network. MTV's Snooki and JWoww (2 million) was no match for the full Jersey Shore cast, but a ratings improvement over earlier spinoff The Pauly D Project.

Newsroomclimbs. HBO's third episode of Aaron Sorkin's media drama The Newsroom (2.2 million viewers Sunday) had its biggest audience yet, inching slightly above the June 24 opener. But Showtime's Weeds (608,000) dropped 24% from last week's final-season start.

Finale time. CW said so long to two low-rated summer entries, Breaking Pointe (864,000 viewers Thursday) and The Catalina (474,000 Tuesday). Bravo's Kathy Griffin talk show Kathy wound down with 499,000 Thursday.
