Well, my favorite Indy blog is more like the Costco of blogs. I’m talking about SmallerIndiana.com. This a mini-social networking site; many users have their blogs automatically post to their profile or certain groups within the site. As a non-native Hoosier, this has been a great way to connect with local people and read what they have to say. And as a fan of #FAIL, I must admit that http://www.failurethebook.com/blog is always a good education in failure.

My favorite blog so happens to be local. Pete the Planner posts regular updates on financial matters that concern families and individuals in a way that makes it fun to read and is no-nonsense.

I know I’m going to go against the grain on this one, but I’m not a huge “blog” fan. I was able to hear former President George W. Bush speak this past year, and one of the pieces of advice he gave was, “Do not waste your time watching the news. If something big happens that you need to know about, trust me, you’ll find out.” When someone asked why as president he didn’t watch the news, he laughed and said, “I was the news!” Blogs can fill your time reading and fill your time writing, with no real way to demonstrate a return of investment on your time. If I need to know something, I’ll look it up. However, I do not spend my time regularly reading blogs or RSS feeds.

Great. Still a role modeling ignorance and discouraging involvement.
