Some people will never grow up.
And why should we? We can keep playing recess games like four square until we pull a Betty White — when we’re so old we’re cool again.
This new version, though, comes without balls. (We mean the game, not Betty White.)
It’s Foursquare, the latest thingy the kids are using to give out more information on their whereabouts than they probably need to. And it’s growing — a lot.
The number of users has grown from 700,000 nationwide in March to 3 million in August, according to Mashable.com, the leading website for social media news.
“Foursquare is a way to engage your city, find new ways to enjoy your city and also find what your friends like,” said Chris Banks, who, along with Andy Huston, volunteers his time to help Foursquare grow. They run the Foursquare Indy accounts on Facebook and Twitter, but have no affiliation with the national Foursquare.
Foursquare — the location-based social media tool that began in New York in 2009 — is nothing like the playground game, and it’s the most widely known of the location-based services and apps, like Loopt and Facebook Places.
