Reception at 8 p.m., discussion with Karen Kohler at 9:30 p.m. Learn about the history of cabaret and why it remains a crucial training ground for writers, musicians and performers. Kohler was born in Germany, raised in New York and a Texan for 15 years, she has won all three major New York cabaret awards - Nightlife, Manhattan Association of Cabaret (MAC) and Backstage Bistro - and performed in cabarets, concert halls, consulates and embassies across the U.S. and in Europe, England and Australia. Kohler's directs and teaches cabaret, with students traveling from as far away as Australia for her private coaching. The evening will include a dessert reception.
