D. Matthew Officer has the eye…

Behind the camera since 12, Officer’s passion blossomed into a full-blown career. His work includes projects for many of Indy’s premier community organizations like the Marion County Commission on Youth (MCCOY), The Women’s Fund and most recently, Indiana Black Expo.

“I began my professional career in 2001 as a production assistant on the film Batman Begins,” said Officer. “I’ve worked in almost every aspect of videography from TV to film production… but sharing my expertise with young people is what drives me.”

Officer’s most recent project, “Let Us Not Forget,” is a 45-60 minute documentary about HIV-positive Hoosiers. Directed and co-produced with members of the National AIDS Fund AmeriCorps in conjunction with Indiana AIDS Fund, the film localizes the 25-year-old pandemic and puts a voice and an image to living life with the disease.

Meet Matt Officer and check out the film premier of “Let Us Not Forget,” Thursday, June 25, 8 p.m. at Earth House/Lockerbie United Methodist Church, 237 N. East Street.

There’s a reception at 7 p.m., or you can grab dinner, vegetarian style, from The Chef Jenxi’s menu at The Earth House Café. Earth House serves veggie-dishes made with all organic, locally-grown ingredients. The restaurant opens at 5 p.m.
