It takes a brave man to get involved in his wife’s beauty routine, but Georgio Fernandez accepted that risk one day when he commented on the way his wife, Mikaela, applied her makeup.
Mikaela, a makeup artist and lash expert, mind you, challenged Georgio, an actor at the time, to do better. They achieved astonishing results.
“The lip liner was a little crooked, but he was really good,” Mikaela recalled.
What started off as a friendly challenge that evening in New York is now a booming business for the husband-and-wife celebrity makeup artist team. The couple launched their new LadyLash line last week at the Fashion Wrap-Up party in Indianapolis.
“The beauty of starting in the Midwest is that the people appreciate life, and that’s what we’re about, changing people’s lives through beauty,” Georgio said.
In 2007, the Fernandezes opened LadyLash Studios, a lash and brow boutique in Delray Beach, Fla., that features makeup design, brow sculpting and eyelash extension application. With more than 500 clients, their goal is to empower women, from soccer moms to celebrities, with easy-to-use products.
Georgio knows a little something about celebrity life as a former “All My Children” actor who once was named one of ABC Daytime’s Sexiest Men in America. Mikaela is no stranger to the spotlight either, boasting a star-studded client base.
Their new line includes Luster Lash, a prescription-free serum said to restore health to lashes that have been damaged, or in some cases lost, by using vitamins and minerals rather than potentially harmful chemicals. Luster Brow, the Luster Lash sister product, is scheduled for release in August.
LadyLash products have yet to find a retail home in Indy. Until then, fans can stay updated through Facebook and Twitter.
