Room service
It’s no secret that wallets tend to be lighter these days. Who can afford a $100 tab at a Downtown bar right now? Many people, though, are finding way to keep alcohol on the menu without disposing too much precious income: tasting rooms. Wineries, breweries and liquor stores around Indianapolis offer a bevy of cheap, low-key tasting events.
“It’s a great way to broaden your horizons without making a huge investment,” said Dennis Locke, wine adviser at Vine & Table in Carmel.
Tasting rooms and events can often be an educational experience — and they’re a cheap way to get out of the house.
“It’s a fun experience,” said Tia Agnew, co-owner of New Day Meadery. “It’s a chance for people to get out in the community. Sometimes, that centers around wine.”
Here’s a sampling of offerings at some of the city’s best tasting rooms. --Lindsay Spoonmore, special to Metromix
